Happy Days Are Here Again
The Beehive, Dowell Street, Honiton EX14 1LZ
UNTIL Thursday 4th November
On the 8th May 1945, millions of people took to the streets to celebrate peace and to look forward to a brighter future. This show brings you the songs heard at those parties, songs that won the war, good old fashioned singalongs and beautiful ballads.
The show includes a tribute to the late Dame Vera Lynn, the Nations' Sweetheart, with songs including 'When the Lights Go on Again', 'A Nightingale Sang in Berkeley Square', 'I'll Be Seeing You' and of course 'The White Cliffs of Dover'. We can 'Meet The Gang' as we take you back to the ENSA concert party days, with songs from Arthur Askey, Gracie Fields and Flanagan and Allen to name a few.
There is a good old fashioned knees-up where you can sing along to 'Roll Out the Barrel', 'Side by Side', 'Let's All Go Down the Strand', 'Knees Up Mother Brown' and 'Lambeth Walk', among others.
We will pay a respectful tribute to our Fallen Heroes, and there is a flag-waving Last Night of the Proms Finale, including 'Land of Hope and Glory', 'Rule Britannia' and 'There'll Always Be An England'. We are all in need of lifting our spirits, having a good old sing-song and a really good laugh. If that sounds like a good idea, then this is the show for you! This is a seated event at 2pm, we can't wait!Share:
