Covid-19 relief service cooking free meals for the community

'The Random Kitchen' is the result of Honiton woman taking quick, direct action in the wake of a crisis, and finding herself suddenly with no work.
Cathy McCollum of Cathy's Bakehouse has set up 'kitchen' in the Rugby Club and is busy cooking meals out of produce from closed-up kitchens and items that people have kindly donated.
These frozen meals are to help those struggling in the current 'lockdown' situation.
The coronavirus information number for those living in Honiton is 01404 383050 and anyone in need of any support should call.
This is how food donations can be claimed. It is completely anonymous and absolutely no details about where this food is going is shared.
The food is dropped at the door step, while the person delivering knocks and stands back to make sure you get it.
"The big ask now is veg, as we've run out," said Cathy.
"Already these meals have provided those who need it with a home-cooked meals.
"We even had a social worker call us to say what we're doing is amazing and that they know a lot of people, young and old, who could really utilise the service.
"We're just asking that anyone who is able to can provide food items, or even money to cover the costs of running a kitchen and delivery service."
Food donations will be picked up and taken directly back to be utilised for meals immediately.
Donations of storage tubs will be put straight into antibacterial sterilising solution.

"Thank you to all the businesses that are donating for this cause and just a reminder that the food bank is still there," she added.
