East Devon home care company Home Instead is urging people to join its team of local staff providing support for the elderly living in their own homes.

Home Instead currently has 35 vacancies at its growing company providing support throughout Exeter, East Devon and Mid Devon.

Owner and Director of Home Instead Vanessa McGlade said that jobs in the care sector are 'future-proof', due to the fact that home care has seen a huge increase in demand as people are living longer and many are opting to remain at home in their old age.

She said: "As a five-star employer in care, we are immensely proud of the support and training we provide our staff. It's one of the fundamental reasons we remain a Care Quality Commission (CQC) five-star rated care provider.

"We're able to offer staff a clear career pathway, allowing them to tailor their career as they wish and offer nationally acclaimed training in management, leadership, self-development, personnel, and care.

"Now, more than ever, people are looking for more than 'just a job', they seek a secure, worthwhile and fulfilling career, where individuals and values matter and where they can choose their progression according to personal goals, interests and circumstances."

One of Home Instead's caregivers, Kate, joined the team in 2017, and completed a fully funded Level 3 NVQ, followed by a number of Parkinson's disease specialist courses conducted by Home Instead, and is now a trainer herself. Now, she divides her time between being a caregiver and working in an office-based role and she is also just about to start her Level 4 NVQ.

The company has team members of all ages and each of them has a schedule, contract and career to suit them. Home Instead also has many support resources available, with its latest initiative being a menopause support scheme.
