It's been a busy few days for Honiton Carers Support group – they had a stand at Charter Day, just after celebrating the birthdays of two of their members at their first indoor meeting for several months. The group's chair, Winnie Cameron, has provided this update.

Honiton Carers Support Group celebrated their first session back indoors on Friday 30th July with a cream tea and brilliant entertainment by Cameron Lemmer, everyone's favourite local crooner. We took the opportunity to sing Happy Birthday to long standing carer Angela Bea who celebrated her birthday and presented her with a cake. A second birthday, celebrated on Thursday 29th July by carer Janice Sharman, was also acknowledged and Happy Birthday was sung once more. The carers joined in with Cameron Lemmer's singing and some decided to go on the floor for a swing around, even with some rock and roll thrown in. What a fabulous party atmosphere there was with everyone thrilled to be back together again.

We would like to thank all our wonderful volunteers who worked tirelessly through the afternoon to make it go as smoothly as possible and Julie Spiller who made the beautiful floral table decorations, which were later raffled, much to the delight of the attendants.

Honiton Carers had another busy day Saturday 31st July when they braved the weather and spent the day at The Allhallows Playing Field celebrating Honiton Charter Day. We met so many lovely new and old friends and it was unbelievable to see the brilliant turnout despite the weather which must have put some people off. We would like to thank everyone who visited our stand for their support. We would also like to say a HUGE thank you to our brave volunteers who gave up their precious time yet again to spend time on our stand. You are one brilliant team, girls and boys. Just love you all.

Honiton Carers will continue to meet indoors on the 2nd Wednesday of every month at The Methodist Church and the 4th Wednesday of each month at The Studio at Awliscombe. We will continue to meet outdoors on 1st, 3rd and when it arises on the 5th Wednesday of each month at The Kitchen at The Combe Garden Centre. For more information about the Carers Group please contact Winnie Cameron on 07974 636926 or email [email protected].
