Honiton: Climate Change campaigners demonstrate outside St Paul's

A group of Climate Change activists staged a silent protest outside St Paul's Church on Honiton High Street this morning (Tuesday, November 2).
Led by Honiton couple Rosemary and Geoff Gilbert, the group – from the East Devon for a Fairer World organisation – stood holding large placards that said: World leaders make it a good COP and Act Now: Together we can make a difference.
They also handed out information leaflets to passers-by and answered questions. Rosemary told Nub News: "This is an act of silent witness for the planet. We felt helpless but we realised we can all do a little bit and this is a manageable thing for us to do: raise awareness and share information". East Devon for a Fairer World is a local group of people living in Honiton, Ottery St. Mary and Sidmouth.They look at global issues and act locally, including a campaign to make Honiton a Fairtrade town. The group meets once a month in The Beehive.
The demonstration comes on the second day of Cop26, the 26th annual global climate change conference at which world leaders are assembled in Glasgow for critical talks on how to slow climate change. Approximately 190 countries are represented at the conference.
On Saturday (November 6) between 10am and midday, East Devon for a Fairer World is hosting a photography exhibition in St Paul's Parish church on the effects of climate change.
