Honiton: Election for St. Michael's Ward Town Council to take place on March 10
Honiton Town Council have published further information on the forthcoming elections for the Town Council, and one of Honiton's wards received too few nominations to generate an election.
St. Michael's Ward and St. Paul's Ward of Honiton each have four vacancies for town councillors after a series of resignations in recent weeks.
In St Paul's Ward, only three people put themselves forward for election. The individuals who stood for election are Joseph Furneaux-Gotch, Debra Hulin and Caroline Kolek.
As only three people have chosen to stand and there are four vacancies, there will not be an election for this ward and these individuals will become Honiton Town Councillors. The fourth vacancy will be filled by co-option at a later date (this is where the council will select a candidate.)
In St. Michael's Ward, six people put themselves forward and there are four positions.
The individuals who are standing are: Lisa Beigan, Jenny Brown, Robert Fowles, Cathy Maunder, Andrew D Pearsall and John B Taylor.
Consequently, there will be an election for these posts on March 10.
John Taylor has been nominated by ex-mayor of Honiton John Zarczynski.
