Honiton firefighters helped put out a small kitchen fire in Kentisbeare yesterday (Sunday 16 January).

They were sent out together with fire engines from Cullompton and Middlemoor following a call from a member of the public shortly after 6pm saying they could hear a fire alarm sounding and see smoke inside a property.

A spokesperson for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: "Fire control received a call from a member of the public to say they could hear a fire alarm sounding and could see smoke within a property.

"Fire control sent fire appliances from Cullompton, Middlemoor and Honiton.

"On arrival crews confirmed there was a small kitchen fire. Crews extinguished the fire using two breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet, one safety jet and one thermal imaging camera."
