The sun is shining, life is starting to resemble some sort of normalcy after "the year of the pandemic" and to top it off, Honiton Totally Locally is back with another deal-packed Fiver Fest.

Read more here.

The event takes place from 12 - 26 June and encourages shoppers onto the High Street and into independent businesses and services available in the town. It's a way of changing habitual online buying and making people aware of what's on offer locally.

Event organiser Liz Pole told Nub News: "Plans for the Honiton Fiver Fest are coming together beautifully, with more traders than ever taking part.

"The Fiver Fest will be taking place the length and breadth of the town in the independent shops. To participate, traders must offer a higher priced product or service for just £5.

"We are calling on residents to do their bit for independent, local shopping not only to preserve the unique character of Honiton as a town, but also because doing so can put tens of millions into circulation in the local economy.

"More wealth being retained in the community means better upkeep, better facilities, better amenities and better services."

Honiton Town Councillor, Jake Bonetta, told us that he is 'proud' to be part of the upcoming Fiver Fest in Honiton.

He said: "Following on from its success in 2020, the festival provides an exciting opportunity for our brilliant local businesses to boast the fantastic products they offer our communities.

"If everyone in the town spent just £5 per week in local businesses as opposed to online, it would boost the town's economy by nearly £2.5 million.

"Following the hard-hitting impact of the pandemic on our High Streets, it is imperative that we support our local businesses and shop local."
