Honiton: Fundraising family organise an Elf hunt to raise money for Hospiscare

By Kate Baxter 7th Dec 2021

Dawn White, her partner Alex, and their children Charlotte, Emily and Billy have put together a naughty elf hunt to raise money for Hospiscare and encourage local shopping.

It is the third charity event that they have organised this year.

Families who wish to take part can collect activity packs and then need to find Santa's naughty elves, who are wreaking havoc in Honiton's shops. When all the packs are returned there will be a prize draw.

Dawn said: "It gives the children and their families a fun activity and we thought it would also help the shops, encouraging more shopping local along with raising money for a wonderful charity."

Explaining why they have chosen Hospiscare, Dawn explains: "Hospiscare has helped a number of my loved ones over the years and is very much a charity we cannot afford to lose."

Hospiscare's fundraiser area manager Toni Hiscocks has also helped with organising this Christmas's event.

Dawn's family regularly organise fundraising events for Honiton and Hospiscare.

Last Christmas the family planned a winter wonderland trail, at Easter they organised an Easter egg hunt in local shops and this October saw a special Halloween event.

"We as a family have been doing fundraisers over the past year. As a family we find it very rewarding that we are doing a little bit towards helping a charity."

Dawn has lived in Honiton all her life, and she enjoys living here for the community spirit. She said: "We have lived in Honiton all our lives and love our town and its people.

"We are very lucky in Honiton to have so many volunteers busy baking, sewing. Gardening wood crafting and organising events for Hospiscare.

"We also have so many amazing people willing to donate to this cause."

Activity packs are available now, for a minimum donation of £1.

They can be bought at Beauty by Bev, the Hospiscare shop and Hospiscare's popup shop at 13 Livermore Road.
