This month, Honiton's award-winning community group Parental Minds are hosting their first 'Crafty Minds' session in Zest Café, and they will offer a calm, inclusive, safe space to craft and meet people.

Parental Minds is a community interest group. It provides a range of support groups in Honiton, but the Crafty Minds session can simply be a space to meet people, have a chat and participate in a hobby.

However, if anybody does need support and they wish to reach out, there are trained volunteers present at the session, and they will be able to answer any questions on mental health, as well as offer informed sign posting to local services.

The sessions will be run by Anna and Carrie, who are both volunteers with Parental Minds.

Sarah Lou-Glover, who founded the organisation in 2019, told Nub News: "We felt that Anna's crafting ideas and her enthusiasm, with the support of Parental Minds, would offer a calm, inclusive, safe space to craft.

"We are excited that Carrie has joined the team, both volunteers are undergoing the training offered to Parental Minds volunteers.

"We hope it will be a welcoming space where people can 'mindfully' craft."

Parental Minds relies on local support, so they are grateful to Zest's Jackie for allowing them to use the café as their venue.

The groups will take place in Zest Café on the first and third Wednesday each month between 7.30pm and 9pm. The first session will be on February 16 (the scheduled first meeting was on February 2, but it was cancelled.)
