Honiton Primary School receives £500 from Tesco booksales
Honiton Primary School receives £500 from Tesco community book sale.
After a recent plea from Tesco Honiton for recipients to receive the donations made through its community book sale the local retailer has been able to support the local Primary school.
Early in the year community champion and team manager, Duncan Sheridan-Shaw, put out a piece in local magazines and used social media to draw the attention of the community to the unspent money from the stores book sale.
Every month Tesco Honiton will happily donate the proceeds, which can Total £400 - £500, to local groups, charities or associations exclusively in the Honiton area.
After the press release a local parent brought the article to the attention of local school head Mr Tribble and he sent the project in the direction of two young students Chloe & Phoebe who in turn sent a letter to Duncan.
This week the team at Tesco welcomed Chloe & Phoebe to the store to hear the plans they have for the £500 donation.
The school will use the money to fund playground equipment as well as a gardening project that they have in mind.
Chloe & Phoebe said: "Thanks so much for inviting us up and for giving your time to the us we really enjoyed ourselves! 😊"
They both valued the experience of reaching out and connecting with the local community and businesses.
Duncan said "It is always great to hear from any members of our community, especially when we can help them with funds, stock, raffle gifts or just general support. To hear from the girls was incredibly refreshing as they had a clear purpose and ideas of what they will spend the money on"
Tesco Honiton encourage more community groups to contact Duncan at the store with ideas.
