A Honiton woman who has been providing upbeat online entertainment throughout lockdown is ramping things up since the period for strict social distancing has been extended.
Having worked for many years in the entertainment industry, Sarah Fletcher created the Stay at home and keep positive Facebook group to provide light relief during uncertain times and to encourage social engagement within the community in a safe and accessible way.
This Saturday evening she will host her first Live Quiz tailored for the whole family with both children's and adult's trivia rounds.
There is also a Kid's Club party with dancing and singing, followed by a bedtime story. This then continues into the evening with music and entertainment for the adults to enjoy.
Sarah told Nub News: "I wanted to create the feeling of being holiday for people, as a way to make the most of this strange and scary situation, and really just to make people smile.
"It's a way for the community to connect with each other whilst social distancing. Lots of the people where I live get involved and it's helped us to feel closer as neighbours.
"It keeps kids amused and also helps to combat loneliness. One member is a lady who has recently lost her husband, so it's nice to help people in different ways.
"I've had fantastic comments from people who enjoy what I do and it's spurred me on to get back into this line of work once things settle down."
Sarah is encouraging children to send her drawings of rainbows and sunshine, which she is attaching to the staircase behind her in the videos (see photo).
She hopes to fill the space completely and once lockdown is lifted she will make the create a book with them, as a memoir of the experience.
