A Honiton teaching assistant making free face masks for other key workers is appealing to the community to help support her new venture.
Kirsty Stamp, who works at Littletown Primary Academy, joined the legion of face mask makers expecting a slow, but steady stream of requests from family and friends.
However, within just four days of starting she now has more than 100 on order.
"I saw online that other people were making masks and thought it was something I could do to help during lockdown," Kirtsy told Honiton Nub News.
"They are not medical masks, just general purpose, so suitable for key workers in shops and schools and the more vulnerable when shopping or exercising.
"Although there is a section to put a coffee filter, vacuum cleaner filter or even kitchen roll if they wish.
"The intention was just to make them for family, friends and work colleagues, but it very quickly escalated to many more than I expected."
To keep up with demand Kirsty is asking the Honiton community to donate cotton material - preferably funky patterns as well as masculine designs - ribbon, elastic... and a helping hand with making masks.
"My stock of material is running low and elastic - it needs to be 0.5cm wide - is like gold dust at the moment.
"The masks are currently tie-ons and I'm either making my own bias binding, which is hugely time-consuming, or using ribbon. But elastic would speed up the process no end.
"If there is anyone willing to lend me a hand - I can provide the pattern and materials - that would also be fantastic.
"In the meantime I hope those who have asked for masks understand that I am not a factory production line and will be patient," added Kirsty.
In tandem with her mask-making Kirsty, who has two teenage sons, has set up an online fundraising page for donations to Honiton Health Matters' work with young people.
Her £100 target figure has already been more than doubled and currently stands at £244.
"I'm extremely grateful to all those who have donated and it would be fantastic if anyone else felt they could contribute to support the work of this incredible charity," she added.
