East Devon District Council have issued a request to the public regarding the recycling of cardboard this Christmas.

The council is expecting Devon households to dispose of 'huge amounts' of cardboard in the run up to Christmas.

Many people do all their Christmas shopping online, and this produces vast quantities of packaging.

Cardboard boxes are fully recyclable, but any bubble wrap or plastics must be removed.

The council are requesting the residents of East Devon to spread out their cardboard boxes over a number of weeks, to help prevent the recycling trucks filling up too soon.

It is also possible that cardboard may have to be left behind and collected another time, if the council vehicles are filling up fast.

Local recycling centres are also available should residents need to get rid of their cardboard boxes more quickly.

Honiton's closest recycling centre is Sutton Barton. You can find its opening hours and more information here
