Creative bazaar of locally produced artisan pieces pops up in Honiton

By Hannah Corfield 17th Sep 2021

A pop-up shop has opened on Honiton High Street, next door to Toast, offering a delightful mix of artistic wares, pottery and one-of-a-kind jewellery all produced locally by hand.

Winter Arts Bazaar, occupying a downstairs room in Yarrow Antiques, was set up as an opportunity to sell crafts with the current restrictions on events - and to raise money for charity.

Honiton Nub News caught up with curator, Sara Berry, to discover more about the temporary retail space that's been lovingly created - and why.

"Everyone would normally be attending lots of markets selling their stuff, so instead we decided to do a collaborative effort here," she explained.

"A percentage of the money we make will go to Project Play, a charity organisation that works for the benefit of children in the Calais refugee camp.

"We are all local artists and makers, with several of us based here in Honiton.

"For example, the macrame hanging baskets are made by local nurse, Georgie Upham and there's Naomi from Nomi Makes who creates the polymer clay earrings."

Winter Arts Bazaar is open from Wednesday to Saturday, 10am to 5.30pm, up until Christmas. Check out the Facebook page for all the latest updates.
