Domestic property Fire at Springfield Road, Exeter

Date: 12.03.2019Time: 16:16Location: Springfield Road, ExeterDevon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service received a call from a member of the public reporting smoke issuing from a property at the above location.

Three fire appliance from Danes Castle and Middlemoor were immediately mobilised by Fire Control.

On arrival, the Incident Commander confirmed that there was smoke issuing from the ground floor of the property with one person unaccounted for.

Crews quickly got to work using two breathing apparatus and one hose reel jet, to commence a search and rescue of the property. One adult male was located and withdrawn from the property by fire crews.

An ambulance was requested for one male casualty suffering from shock and smoke inhalation, who, in the meantime, was given first aid by fire crews.

Crews continued to tackle and eventually extinguish the fire using six breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets, two thermal imaging cameras, one safety jet and a positive pressure ventilation fan.

The fire caused severe fire damage to the bedroom and severe smoke damage to the rest of the property.

The cause of the fire at this time is unknown.
