Flowers planted by Honiton Scout Group have recently bloomed adding a splash of colour to an area of concrete at the end of Dowell Street.

Poppies, nasturtiums and sunflowers have flourished in the recent good weather and the usually grey-looking site is awash with bright red flowers.

Scout Leader, Helen Turner said: "There are lots of poppies growing in and around the planters, which have seeded from poppies that we planted a couple of years ago.

"There are also sunflowers and nasturtiums which have taken well.

"The Scout Group planted the seeds in containers in our garden just as we went into lockdown.

"They were going to be planted in the Beehive garden by our two Cub packs at the beginning of May, once they were big enough to plant out.

"Due to the pandemic, this couldn't happen so we planted them in the Dowell Street planters instead and were amazed at all the poppies that were already growing there.

"The poppies make a wonderful sight to look at whilst waiting for the lights to change."
