East Devon District Council (EDDC) have approved a planning document which will allow a sustainable new business park to be built.

The approval of the document, known as a Local Development Order (LDO), will pave the way for development at Long Lane, which is opposite the Future Skills Centre near Exeter Airport.

The document will enable a sustainable new business park to be created to meet changing demands within the business and industrial sectors. It will also create approximately 500 new jobs in East Devon.

The LDO simplifies the planning process, allowing developers to bring forward premises for a range of purposes at Power Park, which is part of the East Devon and Exeter Enterprise Zone.

The LDO will set out the type and quantity of the developments and developers will need to ensure their proposals comply with the LDO before any development can begin.

Cllr Paul Arnott, East Devon District Council's Leader and Chair of Exeter and East Devon Enterprise Zone, said: "This new LDO shows we are committed to unlocking development in the Enterprise Zone to bring high value jobs to local people.

"The LDO will simplify the planning process and minimise delays so that employment opportunities can come forward quickly. The LDO will provide a framework for sustainable development through a mixed use scheme with good place making whilst mitigating the impact on the local environment and wildlife."
