Extensive resurfacing and drainage work due on the A373 between Honiton and Cullompton
Extensive resurfacing and drainage improvements are due to be carried out on the A373 between Cullompton and Honiton next month (September).
Work will be undertaken in three separate locations, which will be co-ordinated to help minimise disruption.
Drainage repairs will initially start at Sheldon Junction, Dulford, on Monday 2 September. This is expected to take three weeks, with temporary traffic lights in place for the duration of this work.
The road will be closed overnight, from 7pm-7am, from Godford Cross to Shoelay, Awliscombe, on the evenings of Thursday 12 September, Friday 13 September and Monday 16 September for resurfacing.
On the evenings of Tuesday 17 September, Wednesday 18 September and Thursday 19 September, the road will be closed overnight, from 7pm-7am, between Hembury Fort Cross and Godford Cross for resurfacing at Hembury Fort.
Councillor Stuart Hughes, Devon County Council Cabinet Member for Highway Management, said: "The drainage upgrade will help alleviate flooding which has been a long-standing issue on this section of the A373.
"Although there will be some short-term inconvenience with the overnight closures for resurfacing, the work has been co-ordinated to reduce disruption and I'm sure people will welcome these improvements."
This work is weather dependent, so dates may change. Advanced signs will be set up on the A373 to advise drivers of closure dates.
During the road closures the official diversion route (using the same standard of road) will be signed via the A373, B3181, Cumberland Way, A30, A373 and vice versa.
