Fire in Open that Spread to Building Exterior at Gold Street, Ottery St Mary

Date: 09.01.2019Time: 23:12Location: Gold Street, Ottery St MaryDevon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service received reports of rubbish on fire outside a commercial premises at the above location.
Fire control immediately mobilised one fire appliance from Ottery St Mary.Subsequent calls stated that it was believed that the fire had spread to parts of the property.
On arrival, the incident commander confirmed that the fire had been extinguished prior to the arrival of the Fire Service using a fire extinguisher. Fire crews used one hose reel jet to dampen down any remaining hotspots.The fire caused damage to approx. 8m of the premises external wall and 3 windows.
Police were requested as the cause of the fire was believed to be deliberate.
