Foodsave seeking new directors as expansion continues
Honiton's Foodsave is recruiting new directors to help manage its expansion and growth.
Foodsave CIC was established in 2020 by Jake Bonetta as a small community group. Its aim is to create a zero-waste community by redistributing food that would otherwise go to waste.
Volunteers currently distribute more than 250 food parcels a week across East Devon. More projects are in the pipeline, including a rural community fridge network.
Unlike a traditional foodbank, the food is available to everyone and no referrals are required.
The unpaid directors need to be 'diligent, energetic and experienced' and would join the board of the growing organisation and work approximately ten hours per week.
The role would provide free Level 2 Food Hygiene qualification and you would receive training in a number of different sectors.
Jake Bonetta said: "With the cost of living only increasing, we are tackling food poverty whilst also helping the environment.
"In order to continue this work, we are looking for Directors to contribute actively to our Board, playing an active part in ensuring Foodsave CIC's compliance with relevant legislation and supporting the strategic vision and operational workings of the fledgling non-profit.
"Foodsave is ever-growing as an organisation, with multiple community fridge projects under development across East Devon and Exeter. Now more than ever, being a Director of Foodsave CIC will provide great opportunities to be involved with a major step change within a fledgling non-profit.
"We can't wait to hear from you!"
Applications need to be submitted by midnight on 16 September and in-person interviews will be carried out the following week. You can find out more information and apply here.
