August 6 is Hiroshima Peace Day - observed every year to promote peace politics and raise awareness of the effects of the first atomic bomb attack on the same date in 1945.

The anniversary is observed by peace groups, both religious and non-religious, around the world who continue to highlight the horrors and reality of war.

In Honiton this was observed by Edna Simpson, Hilda Howells and Caroline Kolek by the war memorial at 11am on Friday morning.
