'Making shopping easier and more comfortable' is the aim of Honiton's Aldi supermarket, which has reopened after a major refurbishment and extension.

The supermarket in Exeter Road opened at 8am this morning (Thursday, September 23) at 8am with a bigger shopping area, an extra aisle and clearer signs.

One new detail is that the fresh bread and cakes have been moved to the last aisle so that they're among the final items customers put into their baskets, meaning they won't get squashed under their other shopping.

Aldi said the freezers are new and easier to browse than before.

There's also the 'Aisle of Aldi' where special bargains can be found every Thursday and Sunday in product categories such as clothing, sport and leisure, DIY and pets. During reopening week, the bargain items are cooking equipment including digital scales, a blender and a mixer.

Area Manager Sam Bensley said: "The team and I are really looking forward to welcoming back some familiar faces as well as new customers and supplying our local community with the everyday amazing products we have available.

"Hopefully the new look store will make shopping at Aldi Honiton that bit easier and more comfortable."

Aldi Honiton is now open from 8am until 10pm Monday to Saturday and from 10am until 4pm on Sundays.
