Honiton and Ottery St Mary firefighters responded to reports of a van on fire in Whimple at around 3.30pm this afternoon (Wednesday 1 December).

When they arrived at the scene, the van was well alight. They put out the fire, and also had to extinguish a hedgerow on the A30.

A spokesperson for Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service said: "Fire Control received multiple calls reporting a van on fire at the above location.

"Upon arrival crews confirmed the van to be well alight and got to work to extinguish using two breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet and one CAFS jet.

"Crews also had to extinguish the hedge row on the side of the A30 which had become involved in fire due to this incident. These are the full and final details."
