Café hotspot, Boston Tea Party, located at the top of Honiton High Street is giving away free reusable cups to customers who order takeaway hot drinks.

The generous September offer is in response to a recent increase in single-use plastic waste entering the environment, as a result of the coronavirus and people's reliance on personal protective equipment.

Staff member, Bailey Bachmann told Honiton Nub News: "We banned single-use plastics in our stores back in 2017 with the bring, buy or borrow scheme as an alternative to issuing throwaway cups.

"In Covid times, a lot of disposable masks and gloves are being used, so a lot of plastic entering the environment and causing damage.

"At Boston Tea Party we wanted to do something positive in response to this and so are giving away free reusable cups to our customers.

"We have 25,000 cups to giveaway, but would encourage people to be quick as they are proving popular."
