On Saturday (10 December) a car was seized after being driven in an anti-social manner up Honiton High Street.

The car was being driven up Honiton High Street on a busy market day, scaring members of the public.

The driver of the vehicle had been warned on previous occasions about driving up the High Street and 'popping' his exhaust.

The car was seized under Section 59/60 of the Police Reform Act 2002, for driving in a manner well below that of a careful and competent driver and causing members of the public alarm and distress.

A spokesperson for the Honiton Neighbourhood Policing Team said: "We appreciate that lots of people have cars that they want to show off, but the place to do that is either a race track or at an organised meet and not on the public highway."

"This has resulted in the vehicle being seized under Section 59/60 of the Police Reform Act 2002 today after the vehicle was driven in a manner well below that of a careful and competent driver and caused members of the public alarm and distress in the process."

The driver will be required to pay a fee to have the vehicle released and the individual may have to attend court.
