A local charity has been left pleasantly surprised after a generous sum of money was posted in their letter box anonymously.

Staff at Trip Community Transport in Honiton found the mystery cash donation when they opened up the office yesterday morning (20 April).

Deputy Manager, Sharon Thorne told Nub News: "The £1000 donation was left with an unsigned note, saying only four words: "For your new vehicle"."

The 'new vehicle' refers to a fundraising campaign to replace a 17-year-old diesel community transport van with a brand new electric vehicle that has wheelchair accessibility – read more or donate here.

Trip Manager, Neil Hurlock said: "'Tis a wonderful mystery and we would like to reach out and say thank you to whoever made this donation."

Speaking about the 'Electric Dream' campaign, Neil added: "The community of Honiton and East Devon have been very generous in supporting this electric wheelchair vehicle project.

"The good news is, we have almost reached our target and have ordered the vehicle last week.

"This will means the 'Electric Dream' is now a reality!"

The team at Trip Community Transport have said that while anonymity will be respectfully maintained, they would like the opportunity to say thank you in person and would ask whoever donated the money to make contact.
