A spokesperson for the Coldharbour Field Kitchen said: "We're totally over the moon to win the gold award for Casual Dining – to be honest it was a real surprise and we almost couldn't believe it!
"It's a real testament to our wonderful team and brilliant customers – locals and visitors – who've got behind us from the start. The Field Kitchen only opened in June and we've had such tremendous support.
"We really worked hard to make it a sustainable business, working with lots of local trades to build it, installing solar panels and making sure it's accessible to everyone. We have a genuine commitment to local sourcing for our ingredients – we have our own pigs and sheep on the farm so a lot of the meat is raised here.
"One of the biggest draws is the view! Everyone comments on the views across Ottery and East Devon from our decking area, and already people are sitting out there even though it's still rather fresh! We're so proud of this award, we've worked hard and it's clearly paying off."
The restaurant is situated on East Hill Strips and has a large decking area and inside seating area. It serves a range of meals and snacks, including full English breakfasts, pulled pork baps, bubble and squeak and vegetarian options.
