Honiton: Deadline for ticket office consultation extended

The deadline for members of the public to share their views on the proposed ticket office closures has been extended.
Earlier this month, it was announced that the vast majority of England's railway ticket offices - including Honiton's - may close.
The closures are part of 'modernisations' taking place across all networks. Only about 12% of railway tickets are bought at an office, with most people buying them from a website or via an app.
In Honiton it is proposed that the office should close and there would be one member of staff available to assist passengers to buy tickets and board the trains.
The move has been criticised by Honiton's MP, Richard Foord, who said it would further isolate vulnerable people, especially those living in rural areas.
A consultation is currently underway and the deadline for submitting comments has been extended to September 1.
