Honiton firefighters helped deal with a fire at an industrial unit in Ilton, Ilminster yesterday (Thursday, September 30).

A passer-by called Fire Control at 6.13pm to report smoke coming from a corrugated iron building.

Fire crews from Ilminster and Chard were first on the scene, along with the aerial ladder platform from Taunton.

They found the building heavily smoke-logged and called for back-up from the surrounding area.

The fire was on a mezzanine level of the building and caused 40 per cent damage, with further damage from the smoke and heat.

Three positive pressure ventilation fans were used to clear the smoke.

The fire had started accidentally and isn't being treated as suspicious.
