Honiton firefighters mobilised to hazardous material alert

Honiton firefighters went to the aid of a man in Plymtree who was believed to have breathed in a chemical substance on Sunday, July 25.

The fire service was alerted by Ambulance Control at about 8.30pm to reports that the casualty was having difficulty breathing.

Fire appliances from Honiton and Cullompton were moblilised, along with an environmental protection unit from Taunton.

They used breathing apparatus to identify and isolate the substance, and updated Ambulance Control with the details so that the patient could receive appropriate treatment.
