Firefighters put out an electrical fire at a West Hill property on Saturday (6 May).

Crews from Honiton, Ottery St Mary and Sidmouth were called out just before 2.40am.

When they arrived they found the loft of the property was full of smoke, which they discovered was coming from a small fire inside an electric meter cupboard via the cavity walls.

They put out the fire using a dry powder extinguisher.

A Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "Crews were sent to a report of smoke within a loft of a domestic property.

"On arrival crews confirmed the loft was full of smoke and got to work to identify the cause.

"The cause was discovered as a small fire within the electric meter cupboard, which caused the loft to fill with smoke, via the cavity walls.

"The fire was extinguished using a dry powder extinguisher."
