A local sports team proudly showed off their new kit on Friday (Nov 14), which was purchased with money raised through a community book sale initiative.
Honiton Hornets Ladies Hockey Club received a donation of almost £500 pounds, following the revival of the Tesco Honiton charity book sale.
Honiton Hornets team member, Sophie George said: "It's a pretty tricky time for sports teams at the moment, so to have virtually a whole new kit paid for is going to make a massive, massive difference."
The team are holding out hope that they can resume playing in December, having had only one league game so far.
"We really hope the season can continue in December, and to be back playing in our new kits!"
Tesco Community Manager, Duncan Sheridan-Shaw said: "We haven't been able to put our books out recently, due to coronavirus restrictions.
"However, we have now changed the layout of the foyer, we immediately instigated the book sale again and within about three or four weeks we had nearly £500, which is brilliant!"
Honiton Hornets established as a hockey team back in the late 70s, with a few members having played for over 25 years.
The team currently travel to Ottery St Mary to make use of the pitch there, since Honiton doesn't have the facilities.
"We had been training in Exeter, but we've just come back to Ottery this season. It means we can train at more sensible hours, and hopefully encourage some more juniors to join."
