8th Dec 2022 | Local News

Yesterday (Wednesday 7 December) The Beehive hosted a planning consultation session and it was well attended by local residents.

East Devon District Council (EDDC) held a consultation on the draft Local Plan, which is a document setting out how resident's needs can be met and where new towns and developments will be constructed.

The policy document, when finalised, will set out planning and development policy until 2040.

There are plans for a new town of 8,000 homes somewhere in East Devon. In addition there are plans for housing developments in Honiton.

Of particular controversy is a plan to build 100 houses between Honiton and Gittisham, which is a historic village.

The Local Plan is currently in its consultation stage. A series of exhibitions have taken place to allow residents to see planning documents and ask East Devon District Council questions.

How can I take part?

There will be a further public exhibition in Feniton on Tuesday 13 December at the Youth Centre between 3pm and 7pm.

All the information is available online. You can have your say here.

The closing date for comments is January 15.
