A cheque for £500 was presented to the Royal British Legion at a Remembrance Sunday service held in Honiton yesterday (Nov 8).

The money was donated by Honiton Lions, who wanted to provide extra support for the Poppy Appeal this year, with collections greatly reduced due to coronavirus restrictions.

Brian Richards, President of Honiton and District Lions Club, said: "As the Covid pandemic has restricted this year's collections for the Poppy Appeal, the Lions are pleased to support this very worthwhile cause by making a donation of £500."

The Lions, who earlier in the year contributed £300 to the local food bank, have also decided to further support the charity with another donation of £250.
