On Saturday 16 November 2019 Honiton and District Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Honiton Town Council are celebrating the start of the Christmas season.

There will be a Toy Fair in Mackarness Hall from 3 - 8pm and the Honiton Town Band will play around the town's Christmas tree in St. Paul's Church - with additional music after 5pm.

Children will be given gift bags and a lucky draw will see five children win a family Christmas tree up to 7 feet tall, with the first winner also receiving £100 for their school.

There will be warm mince pies and a visit from a certain bearded gentleman wearing a red suit and riding a sleigh.

Unlike past years, when there have been several late night shopping days leading up to Christmas, in 2019 this one day will be the designated and advertised late night shopping event for Honiton.

Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce, Tony McCollum said: "It's hoped that this will draw in bigger crowds as it won't be diluted by other late events.

"It also means that that we're ahead of the game with regards to festive shopping.

"We are asking all the business premises in Honiton to support this event by remaining open on 16 November until at least 7pm and later if crowds and the weather permit.

"We would also like to thank businesses for their support in anticipation, and ask that they promote the event and the late night opening across their customer base."
