East Devon District Council (EDDC) and calling on families and young people in Honiton to advise them on how they should spend £60,000 improving the Butts Close play area in Honiton.

In recent weeks, the council have been consulting on what could be done to improve the Butts Close play area, but more information is needed.

EDDC have been struggling to get the views of the groups that regularly use the park.

They would like to hear from young people to find out what play equipment they want, as the current facilities are at the end of their life and will be removed.

There are two groups that the council is asking for feedback from: parents and carers of those aged under five and young people aged between eleven and fourteen.

Children aged five to eleven have been consulted on their wishes through local schools, and so the council does not need any more information from those groups.

In a statement to residents, the council said: "If you are either the parent or carer of those aged under five or are a young person themselves aged eleven to fourteen, that regularly lives in Honiton, you can fill in a questionnaire online until 5pm on Thursday, 20 January.

"We also encourage children to get involved by designing their own park. Draw, paint, colour, collage...all ideas are welcome, but we ask that the children label the park equipment to ensure their ideas can be added into the results.

Please do share their creations on social media and tag us at East Devon District Council, we'd love to see!"
