Below are lists of key planning applications in Honiton recently received or decided on by East Devon District Council.

Applications received

1. The Old Rectory, Buckerell, Honiton, EX14 3EJ

Replace one fan window on ground floor North East elevation. Status: Awaiting decision


2. 55 High Street, Honiton, EX14 1PW

T1 - Karinasta- reduce to approx. height of 9 metres and max diameter cuts 5cm G1- Group of fruit trees- de ivy, prune and shape because they have been let go and are creating excessive shading. T2 - Monterey Cypress - reduce in height by 3m and thin crown back to 50mm pruning points to reduce excessive shading on garden. crown lifting 4 metres as discussed. T3 - Cherry tree - Removal as it has fallen out of the garden onto private access and very close to track. T4 - Willow - Prune back over hanging branches of western side to in line with boundary to suitable growth point, (permission approved from Boston Tea Party). Status: Awaiting decision


3. 1 Highfield Road, Dunkeswell, Honiton, EX14 4XY

The Beech and Ash hedge located in the rear garden of number 19 Potters Stile - Reduce the height of all of the Beech trees in the hedge to a height of 10 Feet so as to allow proper future management and maintenance of the hedge. Ash trees in the hedge should to be felled as vulnerable to Ash dieback. They could then be replaced with smaller more appropriate specimens. Beech x 2. All limbs of 4" diameter or less to be removed to reduce the canopies and all limbs below 25 feet to be cut back to the main trunk to lift the crown. Oak, reduce the crown by pruning out all limbs of 4" diameter or less. The objective of this maintenance should be to separate the crowns of the three trees, so that they are again identifiable as individual specimens and to allow more light and air into the houses and gardens whilst reducing debris fall below the canopies and maintaining healthy trees with balanced canopies. The reduction of the canopies will also make the trees less top heavy, particularly when in leaf, and so will reduce the risk of the trees falling in windy conditions. Status: Awaiting decision

Erection of a single bedroom house. Status: Awaiting decision

2. Glanville Farm, Offwell, Honiton, EX14 9ST

Creation of a pond. Status: Approved


3. 43 Millers Way, Honiton, EX14 1JB

Demolition of existing garage, and erection of a two storey side extension. Status: Approved


4. 13-15 High Street, Honiton, EX14 1PR

Erection of a pitched roof shed. Status: Approved


5. Hay Farm, Yarcombe, Honiton, EX14 9BQ

House alterations including replacement porch, removal of late 20thc. outhouses and internal rearrangement, with extension and alterations to existing rear annex. Status: Approved


6. 7 Ferndale Close, Honiton, EX14 2YN

T1, T2 : Inspect and crown clean of 2 x Oak trees, crown lifting the Oak trees to approximately 6 m. above the public footpath pruning back to the main branch collar the 3 lowest limbs make 1 x 100 mm cut and 2 x 75 mm cuts pruning the branch tips by no more than 10% volume and making natural target pruning cuts of approximately 25 mm. in diameter. Status: Refused


7. Court Barton, Feniton, Honiton, EX14 3BD

Remodelling of the existing first-floor bathroom and WC area in order to provide a separate bathroom with WC and shower with WC and removal of the existing brick fireplace on ground floor to open up original fireplace. Status: Approved


8. Higher Moorlands Farm, Luppitt, Honiton, EX14 4SY

Combined application for 2 replacement agricultural buildings and change of use to extend farmhouse garden. Status: Approved
