Honiton Town Crier, Dave Retter, dressed up in full attire to have his picture taken with Enoch, and to send a message to the townsfolk in lockdown.
'Enoch' is the name given to an African-style carving, which perches atop the bank in Dave's Cotleigh garden overlooking Honiton.
Purchased from a street stall after finishing a Hot Pennies Ceremony some seven years ago, Enoch - who wears a large sombrero - attracts a lot of attention.
"Joggers and passers-by always comment - one couple even came all the way from Somerset to see him," Dave informed Nub News.
"In these times, as they are, I thought it would be nice if people sent in pictures of themselves wearing hats and we could compare.
"Just a bit of fun to be had in lockdown, call it Honiton Hat Competition.
"What I'm really hoping is a that a 'Thatchers' lorry gets lost up here and I can tell the driver he's in the right place and can drop it all off here.
"People ask me how I manage to keep my voice lubricated after all these years as town crier and I make no secret, it's cider.
Next year will mark a quarter of a century with Dave Retter as Honiton Town Crier and Mace Bearer.
Dave added: "At the moment this year's Hot Pennies, which is due to take place on July 28, hasn't been cancelled.
"Obviously, this is under constant review and we will be adhering to Government guidelines, but with it being over 14 weeks away we are seeing how it goes.
"Keep safe everybody and see you all soon as!"
