A train strike has been announced for June 2 and it will affect trains running to and from Honiton.

The RMT (National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers) will strike next month over an ongoing dispute with the government over pay and conditions.

Whilst the exact timetable of services is yet to be announced, during previous strikes there have been no services through Honiton on the affected day, and services the next day have started later and been busier than usual.

A statement on the South Western Railway website states: "On Thursday 18 May we were notified of strike action by the RMT union that will take place on Friday 2 June. As per previous RMT strike days, we expect to operate a significantly reduced service on a limited number of lines. We will confirm details of our services as soon as possible."

2022 was beset with railway strikes which occurred almost monthly.
