Family-run Bruv's Bar has closed permanently, according to a statement on its Facebook page.

The statement says: "It is with a heavy heart that we have to tell you we will be closing our doors for good on Sunday 22nd January.

"The last 18 months of trading have been especially difficult with the continued uncertainty and a quiet festive period, despite our best efforts.

"We would like to express our gratitude to all our lovely customers that have eaten, drank and been merry here with us at the Bar - we have had some amazing times & memories that will last a lifetime!

"To all our staff past and present, behind the scenes, Thankyou for working tirelessly for trying to keep us going!

"Thanks to all of you who became a part of our Bruv's Bar Family. We will miss you.

"Please come and join us over the weekend for farewell drinks and celebrate the good times, let's see if we can drink Bruv's Bar dry!"

The popular pub and restaurant is located on Honiton High Street. It sold a range of meals including curries, steaks and burgers. It often hosted events, such as themed evenings, discos and karaoke. They also hosted live music and bands.

The Facebook post was met with surprise and sadness from customers and locals who are disappointed to see another small business close. Many people commented that they were shocked by the news and that they have happy memories of the bar. Others talked of how difficult the last few years have been for the hospitality industry.

The bar is owned by the Hagon family and is named after Jim, one of the bothers. The family bought the premises after it had stood empty for three years.
