Honiton's Carnival all set to return on Saturday!
After being cancelled in 2020 due to the pandemic, the residents of Honiton are set to enjoy the return of the town's carnival on Saturday evening.
The procession will set off at 5pm from Ottery Moor Lane and will continue up the high street towards Pottery Close.
It will be led by the Devon Truck show and followed by Santa on the Round Table Sleigh, The Honiton Carnival Float and the Honiton Twirlstar Majorettes.
Behind these will be a few motorised and walking entries and majorette troupes from Devon and Somerset.
The Christmas lights will be switched on after the procession is complete, at approximately 6pm. Father Christmas will be outside St. Paul's Church to meet children.
Honiton Carnival was cancelled in 2020 due to the pandemic.
Karen Wilson, Secretary of Honiton Carnival, explained the impact of the pandemic: "There won't be as many of the huge, illuminated floats as usual, as they haven't been able to build anything since March 2020."
Karen continued: "We're sure that the many entries we do have will be able to provide the same atmosphere and sense of fun as there always is, and with the switching on of the Christmas Lights it will surely be a magical and entertaining evening.
"We look forward to seeing everyone out enjoying themselves on Saturday but remembering to keep safe as they do so."
This year's carnival has been jointly organised by Honiton Chamber of Commerce and Honiton Carnival.
There will be charity collections available, and any profits will be shared equally between the Honiton Memory Cafe and Honiton Hospiscare.
