Students at Honiton Community College put on their annual CreATE event yesterday afternoon (4 July).

It is an opportunity for students, across all the year groups, to publicly showcase their creative endeavours during the past academic year.

It includes an exhibition of work produced in design, art and photography, plus tasty refreshments from food technology and performances from the music and drama departments.

This year, we were treated to a taster of the upcoming school production of 'Sister Act'. I am in no way exaggerating when I say that it was electrifying and gave me goosebumps. The actors involved have some serious talent - I urge you to get your tickets before they sell out!

The artwork on display really showed the dedication of not only the students, many of whom quite clearly have artistic flair, but also of the teachers; who despite battling spending cuts, are still managing to inspire and educate students of the value and importance of creative expression.

Well done everyone involved! A truly inspiring occasion - testimony to all the hard work of both students and teachers.
