The Tar Barrels tradition returned for another year on Saturday.

Tar Barrels is an annual event which takes place in Ottery St. Mary. It involves local people carrying flaming barrels of tar on their backs. Crowds of up to 15,000 attend the evening, which has been taking place for hundreds of years.

The event was cancelled in 2020 due to the global pandemic and when it returned in 2021 the crowds were much larger than usual.

The photos are thanks to Kyle Baker Photography & Videography. You can find out more information on his website and on his Facebook page
