Ernie Willcocks has been invested into the Leonard Beaver Colony in Honiton, with his grandad watching proudly.

Club Leader, Helen Turner commented: "Ernie's mum emailed saying that she could not make it, but would it be possible for her father in law, Laurie Willcocks, to come along.

"He had been part of the 1st Brixton/Yealmpton Scout Group in the South Hams, where he had been doing Scouting for years until he retired last year as the first lockdown hit."

Ernie is the first of Lauries 10 grandchildren to join the Scouting Movement.

Helen continued: "We thought it would be nice to get him to hold the flag and put the Honiton Scarf onto Ernie once he had said his promise. Laurie did not know this until we were about to invest his grandson."

Laurie was delighted that he was able to join in with his grandson's investiture, which made it just that little bit more special for Ernie.
