List of the spaces being left to nature in Honiton

Signs are going up around Honiton announcing a rewilding initiative in which the district council will leave some green spaces uncut, to enhance natural habitats.

The initiative, taking place across East Devon, will provide habitats for insects and wildlife, reduce CO2 emissions by not using mowers, improve biodiversity and help promote sustainable landscapes.

Sites in Honiton include:

The Glen

Old Elm Road – different parts on this road

St Michael's Churchyard

Battishorne Way/Weatherill Road - several different sites on these roads

Junction of Millhead Rd and Ernsborough Gardens

Dove Close

The Gissage (various sites)

East Devon Business Park

By encouraging native wildflowers to grow, the measure will benefit bees and other pollinators, as allowing vegetation to flower can provide up to 10 times more nectar for bees and other pollinators.

Please share photos of any rewilding or 'No Mow May' initiatives in your garden, or around Honiton.
