Chairman of the Honiton branch of the Royal British Legion, Paul Shaw, has turned his hand to professional writing, having self-published his first book.

'A Military Chefs Journey' relates to his memoirs of life in the Armed Forces during the Cold War from 1971 to 1996 in a fast-moving and changing world.

Paul told Nub News: "It took me about four years to complete the book.

"I seem to have got the bug for it though, as I have already have other titles on the go.

"I find the process of writing very relaxing. It requires me to do a lot of research to ensure that everything is factually correct."

Paul explains the premise for the book: "The Army Catering Corps only existed for 52 years. During that period, it became one of the most prestigious service corps in the British Army.

"The fast changing second half of the 20th Century saw the Corps become a victim of its' own success and became easy prey when the time arrived to save public money and implement cutbacks."

'A Military Chefs Journey' is available here on Amazon as a paperback, as well as on Amazon Kindle.
