A local playgroup is supporting a global appeal by holding a breakfast morning to raise money for child refugees in France.
Little Critters Playgroup in Combe Raleigh just outside of Honiton is holding the fundraiser - the proceeds of which will be split between Project Play and Little Critters Playgroup - in Combe Raleigh village hall on Saturday, 14 March from 9am - 12pm.
People are invited to come along for a spot of breakfast and to check out local produce on offer.
A portion of the money raised will be sent to Project Play - click here for more information - a charity working on the ground in northern France to provide safe play space and education for displaced children.
They run sessions six days a week in various locations with the last figures showing their reach to be over 90 children per week and rising.
These are children that have fled any number of traumatic experiences in torn apart countries and deserve the opportunity to simply just 'be kids' and have an education.
Their sessions are designed to target key developmental skills for the children using a number of activities such as games, sports, creative tasks and formal learning.
Sara Berry, who is helping to organise the event, said: "I spent some months as the Education Lead for a similar organisation in France at the beginning of this year and was blown away by Project Play's determination, motivation and passion for their work."
Co-organiser, Steph Hodgetts, who is also a parent at the playgroup, said: "We're so looking forward to celebrating our delicious local producers and championing such worthy causes close to home and a little further afield.
"A children's group in Devon supporting Project Play in France is an exciting proposition and we so hope to see many familiar and new faces comes Saturday morning!
"We are delighted to be serving up delicious bacon from Honiton's Complete Meats, as well as fresh pastries and jams donated by Honiton Lidl and a range of other tasty delights kindly donated by Honiton Tesco.
"Also, local farmers will be providing the milk and eggs and there will be a selection of homemade cakes and scones"
