A man who set out from Exmouth to walk the entire coastline of Great Britain to fundraise for the RNLI reached the Isles of Scilly this week.

Tim Jones, 33, began his journey with his dog Monty on 20 January and arrived on the islands, which are 21 nautical miles southwest of Land's End, by air on Tuesday (21 February).

He has hailed the generosity of the locals, including those who gave him new warm clothing.

Tim said: "Anyone that visits [the island of] Tresco needs to visit The New Inn.

"The service is second to none, and the fish pie was to die for! Packed lunch for us both too.

"Monty was introduced to a puppaccino, which is warm frothed milk. He loved it!

"The locals are so kind, and chatty. I've been gifted a brand new hat and jacket as I was cold after crossing from Bryher barefoot."

Tim is walking clockwise around the coast of Great Britain and also intends to go to the Shetland Islands, the Hebrides and the Isle of Man.

He will also visit as many lifeboat stations as possible along the 8,000-mile route, which he expects will take him four to six years to complete.

He hopes to raise half a million pounds for the RNLI, and has set up two fundraising pages: one for the RNLI and another for his own expenses.

You can follow his journey on Facebook here.
