Three members of staff from Ottery St. Mary's Coffee Bank are taking part in a charity sky dive to raise money for Hospiscare.

The Coffee Bank is a café in Ottery St. Mary. It prides itself on being a safe and welcoming for young children and their families and it was recently nominated for an Exeter Living Award.

On May 15, Louise Jones, Jodie Blatchford and Susie Woodin will be jumping out of a plane at 15,000 feet above Dunkeswell Airfield.

Hospiscare turns 40 this year and to celebrate many local businesses have joined the 40 Club, where they each pledge to raise £1,000 or more for the charity.

Louise Jones is one of the founders of The Coffee Bank. She told Nub News how she was feeling about the jump: "We are very scared, but excited! We want to raise as much money as possible. No backing out now!"

Why Hospiscare?

She went onto explain why The Coffee Bank choose to support Hospiscare,

"We have all been touched by family members suffering with cancer and some sadly have been lost.

"Hospiscare helped support our families through such a difficult time and the staff and volunteers are such amazing people."

"Services in our locality may be lost due to Covid-19, and we knew we had to get involved to help raise vital funds. With our 1st birthday of the shop coming up in May we thought this would be a great way to do so."

"In truth we are all petrified but very excited to take part and we would like to raise as much money as possible for this wonderful cause.

"So, we are asking you all to help support us, dig deep into your pockets, every little helps!"

How can I make a donation?

If you would like to make a donation, you can do so here or they will be accepting cash in the café.
